Welcome to Beaufort - NC

We left this morning headed for Beaufort. It was a gorgeous day with lots of sunshine and breeze. We had two bridge openings today - one we had to wait for, the other we showed up exactly on time.

After we left Savannah, another looper spent a day or two at our dock at home. We have talked to "Confetti" by phone and radio, but today we finally got to wave at each other. We went through lots of really shallow areas today, so the captain had to pay close attention. No yard statues today, but several yards had lighthouses.

Our route took us near Camp LeJeune. There were warning signs for live firing (not in progress) and unexploded ordinance. Finally we got to Beaufort. What a great place! We had time to walk around some and browse some of the shops. There are quite a few restaurants and shops within walking distance, plus a maritime museum. We will probably be here for a few days.
