Welcome!

We are making the "Great Loop" - up the east coast, through the Great Lakes and into Canada, and then down the Mississippi and around Florida. It promises to be the adventure of a lifetime! We invite you to join us through our blog.

Day 1 - Beaufort, SC

We finally left the dock! Our "Looper" flag (America's Great Loop Association) is flying and the day was perfect. Sunshine, breezy, cool... and we even had a porpoise ride the bow for a while. Ryder started off "vibrating", but by early afternoon she was riding on the bow of the boat with ears flapping.

Daddy and Sa came over and met us for dinner at Plum's. The good thing about Beaufort is that we have been here many times and love it. We know good spots to eat, places to walk the dog, etc. If we don't leave too early, I might even get to check out some of my favorite shops.

We tried to Skype with Sara and Olivia tonight, but we had technical difficulties. Some of those were due to Olivia poking buttons when mom wasn't looking. We will try again tomorrow night. Rebecca took some "leaving" photos, but we don't have those yet. We will post them when we get them. Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes!

Cool boat in Thunderbolt.

Kayakers along the way. Big wake not ours!

Ryder is getting used to the trip.

Ryder is now the bow ornament.

A porpoise rode our bow for a while. Kind of hard to see.

Parasailors near Hilton Head. Rebecca and Chris did this a few years ago.

Approaching Beaufort.

The municipal docks. What a beautiful town!

Waterfront park.

Sa and Daddy met us for dinner.
