The Most Amazing Quilts I've Ever Seen!

I can only say, "I'm not worthy!". The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY defies description. There were all kinds of quilts - hand made, machine made, miniature, full-size. The millions (literally) of hours and stitches... the incredible creativity of the artists. I've seen a few quilt exhibitions and thought I had seen excellence, but this has topped it all. Unfortunately, there were no photos allowed, even without flash.

The town of Paducah is charming. Fortunately, they do allow photos. The floodwalls along the river have been painted with professional murals detailing the history of the city - which is considerable. Louis and Clark came through here on their way to find the Northwest Passage, and statues in front of the Quilt Museum commemorate their journey. There is a very "artsy" flavor to the town - shops and studios all around the downtown area. And I loved the architectural details - as always.

Thursday we will move over to Green Turtle Bay. We are just enjoying being tied at a real dock for now.

The Lewis and Clark tribute

This is where gates slide into the floodwalls

This is a museum for maritime education - it looks like a tug and barge!

This is an Illinois Central train - wonder if it's the City of New Orleans?

An old department store, with original paint, that is now home to the Free Spirit Motorcycle Ministry.

And of course I had to go to a quilt shop!
