Welcome!

We are making the "Great Loop" - up the east coast, through the Great Lakes and into Canada, and then down the Mississippi and around Florida. It promises to be the adventure of a lifetime! We invite you to join us through our blog.

Frankfurt, MI

The cruise down to Frankfurt was amazing! The high dunes along the lake are incredible. You can't even tell how big they truly are until you see a boat, or house or person to give you a sense of scale.

The town of Frankfurt is a nice little town with lots of shops and restaurants. I feel like a broken record sometimes, but we have seen so many wonderful little towns. They each have their own flavor. I will have to say, though, that my photos don't do them justice.

Steve's cousin Bob and his friend Todd came to see us at the marina and we had a nice lunch. The two of them are circling Lake Michigan on their Harleys. Bob, his wife Carol and his brother Rich live in Muskegon. He came to visit us just in case he is not back by the time we go through Muskegon. We will still see Carol and Rich.

Our next destination is Manistee.

The sailboat gives you an idea of how big these dunes are.

And this 900+ foot ship gives you an idea how big this lake is!

The Pinta and Nina are on display here (not the originals, of course.)

A flock of geese.

A John Deere stroller - no kidding.

A big Lego pirate outside the toy store.

The dunes are part of Sleeping Bear National Park - so I thought this was appropriate

A swan came by to bid us farewell as we left Frankfurt
