Oxford, MD

Hello from Oxford.

Steve and I came here several years ago by car to look at a boat. It is a lovely little town, with water and little gardens everywhere! When we came before, we stayed at a bed and breakfast right on the water.

We rode around on our bicycles yesterday afternoon and had dinner at a local tavern. Many of the homes and businesses had four pickets (as in picket fence) painted or decorated distinctively. It was getting dark and I didn't have time to find them all, but I got a sampling. The sunset was beautiful!

Oxford is a very old city, and was one of two seaports for Maryland. They have built a replica of the old customs house near the ferry entrance. Even the new houses have been made to blend in with the old. I wish we could stay here longer, but we are off to Annapolis!
