Welcome!

Up the Hudson

On Monday we said goodbye to New York (and to Ryder's good friend, Sean) and headed up the Hudson. I took several parting shots of the city, including the USS Intrepid, some fire boats and a Concorde. Once we got away from Manhattan and the wakes, it was smooth cruising.

The scenery was beautiful - high cliffs, rolling hills and quaint little towns. We stopped at Croton-on-Hudson, at Half Moon Bay Marina. Our good friends Joe and Diane Harwell drove ALL day from Savannah to join us here. They will be spending a week or so on the boat with us. The sun was just starting to set as they arrived, so we had cocktails on the flybridge and then went to have pizza.

We took their car to visit West Point today, but we'll go into all that tomorrow...

Sean and Ryder hit it off right away. He took care of her each time we went into the city. He was so kind to her and to us. Thanks, Sean!

This beautiful and huge boat is in front of a driving range.

You can see the nets and the three decks on the building.

A fire boat and a lighthouse boat.

George Washington Bridge

This is the stretch of Hudson that Capt. Sully used to put the airliner down.

I love these old buildings - nice architectural details.

Note the little red lighthouse at the bottom of the bridge

These guys were working on the GW Bridge. Not a job I would want!

Ryder was glad we were away from the ferry wakes.

I just thought this bridge was pretty.
