OMG!

We left Atlantic City this morning at 6:30, with beautiful sunshine and a light breeze. We got to see all the things that we missed seeing because of the fog when we arrived. There was a very long stretch of sandy white beach, with homes all along the way.

Then everything changed. We had planned for being in the ocean - or so we thought. The TV and lamps were laid on their sides, other things were tucked away or braced, deck chairs were secured with bungee cords... We were expecting seas of 1-3ft, getting higher in the afternoon. Since we left early, no problem. We were bound for Manasquan Inlet - a trip of about 50 miles. Remember that we travel about 10mph.

For the last 2-3 hours, Steve was steering for all he was worth. We were rocking and diving - the deck chairs came loose a few times and Steve had to rescue them. Ryder started out sleeping on the upper deck with us, but when she started sliding around as the boat rocked I put her on the seat next to me. By the time we arrived, she had her head behind my back. We could hear banging and movement below, but it would not have been safe to go check on things.

When we got to our little inlet and I could finally go down to set up lines and check on things, there was a huge mess. Ryder thought it was great, because her dog biscuits were all over the cabin. She was grabbing them before I could get to them. We are very happy to be here at the marina. We hope to go to New York tomorrow - but we'll have to check the weather...

A great day for cruising.

There were miles of sandy beaches and houses.

Nice and calm

Then things changed...

Ryder had to sit by me

A busy and stressful day for Steve

Going down in a trough - I'm glad Steve knows what he's doing!

Ryder put her head behind my back

Yay! There's our inlet!

Finally some calm water

The aftermath. Ryder is a happy girl.

She offered to clean up the dog biscuits for me.
