Welcome!

We are making the "Great Loop" - up the east coast, through the Great Lakes and into Canada, and then down the Mississippi and around Florida. It promises to be the adventure of a lifetime! We invite you to join us through our blog.

Chicago!

Sorry about taking so long to update. We've been kind of busy as you can imagine.

We went to a baseball game at Wrigley Field. The Cubs lost, but it was very cool to be in this famous historic park (and to have such good seats!) Lots of fun that we were glad to share with Chris. That afternoon we finally met up with Sweetgrass again. It was good to see Jenny and Jerry. Their crossing was not quite as smooth as ours, but they made it safely. We joined them for cocktails aboard their boat.

The next day Jenny joined us for an Architecture Cruise of Chicago. The Chicago River runs through the city. The tour takes you under bridges and among the famous buildings of the Chicago skyline. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. As many of you know, I love architectural details and beautiful craftsmanship. I could spend weeks photographing Chicago!

After our tour, Jenny went off on her own and we went to catch up with Jim and Marion Leith from Savannah. Jim is a navigator from the 165 AW, Steve's old Guard unit. They just happened to be in Chicago for a family vacation with Jim's daughters. What are the odds? We talked with them a bit before heading off to find some lunch.

That evening we walked with Jenny and Jerry to a "Looper" event. Any loopers in Chicago were invited to a local condo club house for a Chicago-style pizza party. We had a wonderful evening sharing stories and comparing experiences.

We had to take a "maintenance day" on Sunday to buy groceries and wash clothes. We were leaving on Monday (Labor Day) for Atlanta and Savannah. We got everything done and our bags packed then had Jenny, Jerry, the Leiths and their family over for drinks. We had a great time visiting with old and new friends.

On Labor Day, we flew to Atlanta for some much needed "Granny Time"....

Beautiful sunrise to start the day

Really pretty calm.

Beautiful clear water.
