Welcome!

We are making the "Great Loop" - up the east coast, through the Great Lakes and into Canada, and then down the Mississippi and around Florida. It promises to be the adventure of a lifetime! We invite you to join us through our blog.

Odds and Ends

The Gulf near the shore is windy and choppy, so we are here at Mobile for a day or two. We are taking advantage of the down time by washing clothes, airing out the boat and linens, and defrosting the fridge and ice maker. Sounds like fun, don't you think? Actually it is. There is a fabulous breeze blowing through the boat, the sun is shining and there are birds and fellow boaters to watch. Quite a few loopers are here, most of whom we have met before.

The night we arrived here, we hitched a ride with two other boaters to dinner. One of them, Wilson, is a photographer. He had cruised from Memphis as crew for his friend Richard. He showed me a time-lapse video of locking through that he did with his phone (! - some people are so smart!!) and I was very impressed. I told him that many of you had been asking about going through the locks and might enjoy seeing it.

For those who are interested, he has posted it on youtube and has given his permission for me to add a link.
