We took the ferry over to Manhattan and walked around the area of Ground Zero. They are re-building of course and it is a very busy area. There is a mach-up of the new buildings and the memorial in the information center. We were very touched by a tribute that American Express did for their employees who died. It is a large tear-shaped quartz suspended over a still black pool. The names of the employees are etched on the top of the wall, and attributes of the person were engraved in the bottom of the pool. A beautiful tribute.
We boarded the subway and rode to Yankee Stadium for a day game against the Texas Rangers. It was hot with bright sun shining down, until it went behind the wall behind us. That lowered the temperature 10 degrees but it was still pretty hot. At the end of 9 innings, we were tied at 2. The Yankees won at the bottom of the 12th inning. Very cool.
Haven't mapped out our day today yet, but we'll let you know about it later.
