Sorry I'm tardy with this. I'm still having trouble at times with my computer screen going dark! Maybe I'll get the photos loaded this time!
We left our friends the Lloyds Sunday morning, after a wonderful breakfast, a grocery store run and some last minute navigation advice. Speedy is a great cook! Speedy is BG Wayne Lloyd, retired from the West Virginia Air National Guard. He and Steve were both C-130 pilots and unit commanders, so they have known each other for a while. They served together in the desert a couple of times. Speedy's wife Nancy is a retired college administrator. We first met her when they came through on their sailboat a few years ago. Nancy is my hero. She is in remission from her cancer - and we pray that will continue!
Our destination Sunday was Reedville, VA. Reedville is a charming town with lots of beautiful homes. One of the homes is an original Sears Roebuck house, built from one of their pre-cut kits! The Reedville Fishermen's Museum was a treat, with many beautiful boat and lighthouse models made by local residents. The big industry around here is and was fishing for menhaden - which is used for fish oil and fertilizer.
So about Ryder... she started the morning off by jumping on the breakfast table when we weren't looking. We took her with us in the dinghy to see Reedville, and she did just fine other than getting a little hot and thirsty. On our way back to the boat, Ryder climbed up on the side of the dinghy and rode there. One little slip and she would have been in the drink. I wonder if she thinks she can walk on the water?
